Coffee, Diapers, and Running Late. God is With Us. It's a Good Morning

For this is what the high and lofty One says: He who lives forever, whose name is holy.

I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. — Isaiah 57:15

Slamming down coffee and scooping up kids and being carried by the clock every morning are a lot for a family waking up. It was easy for me to say things in a sharp way in those busy minutes. The divine miracle of being God’s children is that he is with us at the door as we get our shoes on. He is with us as we drive in busy traffic. He is with us as we recount the seconds in our heart and wish we hadn’t talked to the ones we love the most the way we did or were so stressed about what was coming that day.

A Daily Prayer
O God, I can’t even get my head around the fact that you, the high and lofty One are my Father. My Savior. Without you these busy mornings would mean nothing because life means nothing without you. Forgive me for the mess of sin I am. Revive the hearts of our stressed families in your forgiveness as they scramble to live this side of heaven. Give us words for each other today that say we are sorry and that we are forgiven. Remind us that you have bent down to live with us. Amen.
