Exploring God's Love for Us as a Family

God has feelings! It’s not the first thing that I think about him. Emotions can get a bad reputation, because they can be irrational. But God’s feelings are pure and based on his love for us. For children who wear their emotions on the outside and us parents who cover them up a bit better talking together about God’s emotions and our emotions can be very meaningful for each person. This comforting verse is a great place to start the conversation.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD

has compassion on those who fear him.

Psalm 103:13

The story of Joseph in the book You Are More When Life is Unfair shows us that even when it doesn’t look like God cares – he does. After Joseph went through many years of being imprisoned and falsely accused he saw that God worked his slavery in Egypt to save the people of Israel. God’s compassion for Joseph gave him compassion to forgive his brothers for selling him into slavery.
